Kitzbuhel European Championships

Back in September 2013 I was coming to the end of the triathlon season and made the decision to complete one last race, the Bala Standard distance. Being a European qualifier I submitted my intent to qualify and prepared myself as much as I could with only a week left to race day. Turning up the day before I only had a chance to drive the bike course and listen to friends who said it was one of the toughest swims they had experienced. With no expectations other than to do my best I actually ended up winning my age group and therefore qualified to race the standard distance event at the 2014 Europeans in Kitzbuhel in Austria.

Introducing James Swallow

The first of my bikes is my Ribble Sportive Azzurro Di2. Shimano Ultegra 6870 Di2 groupset, Fulcrum Racing Quattro wheelset with Deda Zero 100 finishing kit. Fantastic light bike, comfortable for long rides yet still responsive enough for speed. As my only road bike, I use this when I fancy putting some miles in (weather dependent of course!)

My Job  at Ribble: Sales/Customer service – I work in the Sales office answering your telephone and. Email order  enquiries  where I can,  helping with any technical questions about our bikes and products  and offering advice and guidance on buying one of our bikes. Local customers and those that come to visit us to get sizing advice etc and pick up orders will see me in the showroom…usually only Saturdays or if it’s really busy! I am a GB age group triathlete racing in the 30-34 age category. I started racing in 2011 and with the support of family, friends and my coach, I have been able to improve in all 3 triathlon disciplines. Race highlight so far was racing at the European Championships in Alanya, Turkey in 2012, my first opportunity to race in the GB kit. This year I will be repeating this by heading over to Kitzbuhel, Austria to race in the Olympic distance event.
